Silicone O-Rings
Silicone O-rings offer one of the broadest temperature ranges available in O-rings. Silicone seals can withstand temperature as low as -65°C [-85°F] to over +232°C [+450°F] and are thermally stable over a wide temperature range which their physical properties stay consistent. Silicone (not to be confused with the chemical element Silicon) offers a high degree of resistance to ozone, heat, UV light, general weathering, ozone and compression set. However, Silicone is a weak material, typically having low tensile strength, low tear resistance, and low abrasion resistance and therefore Silicone is recommended only for static sealing applications.
Silicone O Rings are well suited for applications where broad temperature ranges and low compression set are required. They work well in applications that are exposed to weathering and ozone. They can be compounded to be electrically conductive or insilative. These seals work well in food and drink containers and cooking application because of their high heat resistance and low toxicity.
Satori Seal supplies O-rings and seals for use in industrial and residential lighting. Silicone O-rings are well suited for this type of product because of their resistance to weathering and ozone attack and the broad temperature range. Lighting applications can see temperatures from below freezing to several hundreds of degrees.
Satori Seal supplies large quantities of Silicone O-rings for many industries and applications. With over 48 years of experience in providing both standard and custom Silicone O Rings, Satori Seal can provide you with the best solution for your business. Contact our engineering or sales team for answers to your Silicone O-ring questions.
There are many factors to consider when designing a Silicone O-ring for your application — dimensions, temperature range, fluid contact, dynamic or static seal to name a few. From there you can specify other criteria or work with one of our sales team to help select the ideal O-ring.
